Online gaming gives people a surprisingly great opportunity to get together with their friends. While talking on a voice or video call is great, there’s nothing like taking part in a group activity. The sense of fun and achievement can help bring people together better than ever before.

The current batch of online multiplayer games is incredibly varied and full of great fun. No matter the genre, there’s plenty of games that are sure to bring joy to you and your friends that you play with online. What follows are just some of the great options out there. Be sure to try some of them out, but be sure to look for other games out there too. There’s always something new to keep in touch with the people you love spending time with.

1 - PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds)

Many people think Fortnite was the game that blew up the battle royale world, but really it was PUBG. PUBG is a more serious and tactical game than Fortnite and can be played in both first and third person. 100 players are dropped into a map through a plane and the last person or squad remaining wins! You can play PUBG in a group of up to 4 to stay in touch. There are currently a large number of battle royale games out on the market, so if PUBG isn’t the one for you, give one of the others a try until you find one you like.

2 - Fall Guys

You’ve probably seen videos online of this great game. Fall Guys allows you and 3 friends to play in a group as a group of jelly beans that are going to run through a series of obstacle courses and events. With each round, a few more people are eliminated until there is only one champ. Fall Guys is a nice light game that doesn’t really require a whole lot of stress and strategy.

3 - Among Us

There’s no game that’s hotter out there than Among Us. In Among Us, 4 to 10 people are trapped on a spaceship (or other maps). The goal of the crew is to perform tasks to keep the ship running while they try to sus out the imposter. The goal of the imposter is to betray everyone and sneakily eliminate them all secretly! Among Us leads to incredible conversations and surprises as people debate and vote who might be the most suspicious and deserving of being ejected from the ship! Be forewarned about friends and family with anger issues. Among Us can cause some people to get pretty worked up when they feel “betrayed”.

4 - World of Warcraft

There’s no doubt that World of Warcraft isn’t what it once was. This was a game with 12 million subscribers at its peak. That being said, this is a game that began in 2004. The fact that it’s still going at all with new content is impressive. World of Warcraft allows you to explore the world of Azeroth (and many other areas now) with your friends in a traditional multi-player style. Go on quests, fight through dungeons together and defeat bosses to collect your rewards. If you’re new to the game, try to not ignore the early content. It’s easy to push past things to get to the “max level” right away, but there’s so many stories waiting for you and your friends within.

5 - Rocket League

This game allows you to group up online with your friends. If you want to play against people online, you’re limited to 4 people, but if you want to set up your own custom games and tournaments, you can have far more in a party. Rocket League is essentially car soccer. You drive a car and attempt with your team to hit a ball into the net. Except your car has rockets on it. So you can fly and do all kinds of insane things. Many people may think they don’t enjoy sports games, but it’s hard to classify this as a sports game. It’s just a brilliant game and a great time.
