A good pair of headphones are important. Headphones can allow you to listen to music, podcasts, books or radio anywhere! They can turn a boring situation into something very entertaining. The wide variety of different brands of headphones can make purchasing tricky. Combine that confusion with the numerous different styles of headphones that are all considered to be the “best” and the result is certainly murky at best.

Regardless of your style preference, the following list is some of the most impressive headphones available on the market. Each are excellent in their own ways. Some offer the very best sound, while others may simply be the most comfortable in their genre. Good headphones aren’t cheap. Most of those listed here will run somewhere between $100 to $500, but you pay for sound quality!

1 - Sony WH-1000XM3

These headphones are very light and are close-backed to try to reduce noise head by others. In addition, the current model has increased the level of comfort offered by improving the style and cushioning on the headband. These bluetooth cordless headphones feature some impressive features like voice control! Noise cancelling is also included, so there’s no need to deal with annoying strangers on the bus!

2 - Klipsch TM5 Wired

It may seem weird to have an in-ear wired pair of headphones so high on this list. That being said, music nerds are well aware that the name Klipsch is one that can provide a level of sound quality that can often be a notch higher than others. In addition, these in-ear headphones are very comfortable. In fact, they may be the most comfortable in-ear headphones on the market, full stop! An under-rated benefit is that these headphones aren’t just good for listening to crips music. They deliver excellent sound even in lower quality audio settings like streaming.

3 - Sennheiser Momentum Wireless

These are wireless over the ear headphones. They feature excellent noise cancellation, so you’ll have no unpleasant background noise. Battery life for the headset is solid, if unspectacular, at 17 hours. Sennheiser’s continued traditional oval earcups still look great. In fact the entire set truly has an incredible look. Another benefit is that despite being a pair of over the ear headphones, they can fold up into a smaller package. This makes traveling with them extra convenient.

4 - Sony WF-1000XM3

Similar in name to the #1 headphone on this list, the WF-1000XM3 look and function completely differently. The one similarity is that they are wireless. This is one of the best wireless pairs of in-ear headphones you can find. They offer great sound and surprisingly good noise cancelling of the surrounding area. Their battery life of 6 hours alone is pretty impressive. Their rechargeable case extends their battery life to a very solid 24 hours of listening. They fit comfortably and securely, so there’s no need to worry about your wireless headphones falling out and running away.

5 - Cambridge Audio Melomania 1

This list wouldn’t be complete without an item closer to the lower end of the price scale. These are available around $100. It’s another cordless in ear option, but unlike the WF-1000XM3’s, these don’t function as noise cancelling headphones. The sound quality here is excellent! The battery life when using the charge case is a very impressive 45 hours. However, there are some downsides. Specifically, these headphones may not fit as well as some other ones. For cordless in-ear headphones, you definitely need to ensure they are a good fit. They also may not appear that stylish when in the ear if other people are glancing at you. However, if you can try them to make sure they fit, then these could very much be your glass slipper!
